Hi madeline is so good to know about you. unfortunately I do not have pets, because my house is a bit small and I do not have plenty of room for them. My cup of tea is music I enjoy all kind of music, however I prefer the guitars and the drums. So you play violin you are a little artist, that means you are special, you must be a very sensitive person. Well, I get bored easily at university, nevertheless I must put my best foot forward to finish my career and run away from parenas. A few days ago my dad came to see me, it is so comfortable to have your parents around, nonetheless he had to come back to Coyhaique. I get homesick, now I`m normal again, I need a boyfriend, no may be not. I would like you to listen the following song:"si tu no vuelves" from a spanish singer Amaral, check this out and then send me your point of view, would you? in that way you could improve your spanish... bye my dear friend.
Hi Renata! I am very glad to know about you, as I can see we have almost the same likes because when I was in highschool I didn't like math too jeje.. however, in my last grade of highschool I got the best marks.. jaj it`s sounds strange isn't it? but I liked language, History, and English of course. someday, I would like to visit US I know that there's plenty of places to visit jeje.. you could tell me more about you city when yoy have time ok? In terms of free time, I don't have much free time to spend because of the university and my little baby.. though I very very happy to be a mom , he is so sweet :).. I hope we continue keeping in touch take care see you bye bye
Well, in your post you asked me if I played any instrument and actually I do! It's not as cool as the violin though jeje but I play the guitar! I learnt just a year ago but I'm actually improving a lot (practicing is the key!) at the beginning I felt a little frustated 'cause it was very difficult for me to play but, just like you, I love challenges so I didn't give up and now I can play several songs :) And I also love singing! I've sung as long as I can remember. When I was at school I had a band and we played rock songs, bands like The Cranberries and No Doubt (dunno if you're familiar with those bands) But yeah, I love singing and I still practice every week with my church choir :) Do you like to sing as well?
Now, sports... mmm... In our city we don't have such a cool sport program as you guys have. I read some posts and I noticed you all practice volleyball, basketball, badminton, track or things like that. Here, the weather is always cold so we don't play many outdoors games. But soccer is very popular here, especially with boys, and basketball is also practiced by many people. I play basketball myself but lately I haven't been able to play because I spend too much time a the university studying ;)
You also asked me about my hobbies! And I have to say I'm a huge fan of books. I love reading. My favourite classes here are Bristish and American literature. I love tons of book but there is one that kind of touched me in a special way because it grew up with me: Harry Potter. And I know many people don't really like it, but I read the first book when I was 11 and the last one when I was 20 so it's really important for me. I felt very sad when the saga ended u.u hahaha So, do you like reading? If so, what are your favorite books?
I also love travelling! Two years ago I went to Italy and Germany. Have you ever visited another country? Or maybe you have special memories about a particular trip? Where would you like to go if you had the chance to choose?
Well Lilly, it was great to know more about your life! I hope to hear from you soon! Can't wait!
Hey again! Nice meeting you. Is great to know you’re doing ok, though you should clean up your room (But I have a mess in my room too… my father complains about that all the time, u should all the same), Anyway, I envy you because you have an iPhone, my cell phone is like thousands of years old, I know I need to change it but I’m saving my money for some other stuff, but some day I will; I like the side kick model, though they don’t sell it here.
I’m not the kind of sporty guy, I have to admit, and I’ve never in my life been good at any sports. I sometimes play soccer with my friends, but that’s not very common in me; if I do play, I play like half of the match. I started practicing Karate since October last year, but this year I had to leave it aside, because I had too many things to do. Actually that’s the first sport I like, so I’d love to start with it again, hopefully soon.
I’m more of a geek guy, not exactly geek, but I love reading; that’s considered part of a geek feature here, for Chilean people are not used to read a lot. I love watching movies, all kind of movies, I don’t discriminate; I specially enjoy watching avant-garde movies, the ones with long scenes with no dialogs on it. I also like German movies (Don’t know why… XD).
As I’m a geek guy, I don’t usually go clubbing, I would say like ever. I’m more of hanging out with friends in a house, eating pizza, watching a good movie just talking, sometimes reading a good book, or writing. (I do some writing, sometimes in English, some others in Spanish).
Why did I want to become an English teacher…? Where do I begin? I think it was in middle school I got excellent grades there; but I guess I was totally sure when I was in my senior year at high school. English here is not a big deal; people don’t speak it at all, and students are not motivated when it comes to English classes, and my main reason was to change that a bit. I hope when I become a teacher I can contribute with that transformation that most of my classmates and I want to happen in our Chilean classrooms (Now I sounded like a politician… lol).
Do you like watching movies? Do you know any other language? (Spanish maybe) Do you read a lot? Have you ever been to other country?
Hi there... I'm new in the neighbourhood, this is my first post and I'd like to know if there's any national park around your city; I'm interested to know about it. I'll try to be in touch frecuently, though i'm not so diligent... ;p see ya!!!
Hi Eric! Nice meeting you. You are right, sometimes my town tends to be really cold but we get used to it. It has no more than 20 thousand people and it is considered, by many people, as a touristic place because of its landscapes. One of them is the National Park Torres del Paine, which is visited by thousands of people every year, and also because of the Milodon’s cave, it is a huge cavern where a prehistoric animal used to live there many years ago. Unfortunately, we used to have strong winds, and for that reason we do not have a lot of trees in our surroundings, as the north of the country has. I try to go to my town on weekends to visit my family; it takes just three hours from the place I study in. In my free time, here in Punta Arenas, I enjoy meeting friends and going out for a cup of coffee or have something to eat in a restaurant. When I go to my birthplace, Puerto Natales, I often go to the casino or visit some friends. On holidays, and as I have much free time, I go out of the city for fishing, I really enjoy it! Right know I`m just taking three subjects at university, so my schedule is not too busy. Moreover, I have practice classes in a high school. I’m the teacher’s helper for a first grade in high school. Sometimes it can be really stressful due to the class has 45 students. By the way, I like it. How many students are there in your class? Do you have Spanish classes in your school? I’m not good at acting and I admire the people who can stand in front of a public and perform something. What kinds of role do you like to perform? It was cool to know about you, take care and write back. BYE
Hey! Nice to hear from you! Well, I think that we have a lot of things in common, like the places to visit, the hobbies, and things we like, so you can think that there aren't so many changes in likes and dislikes among your ages and ours. In Punta Arenas we have a population of about 150 thousand people, so it is quite little if you compare it with Santiago (which has about 6 millions.) Now, we are just starting Fall, but it seems like Winter! :( Now it is 10pm and we have 3°Celsius (39 F°) but it actually feels like -2 (25°F); In fact, yesterday in the morning was a little frozen outside. Have you ever seen a penguin? Well, I've lived here my whole life, and just in February I got the chance to see some for real (I could upload some pictures if you want.) I also like to watch movies, and some internet shows (my favourite is a Canadian show called Pure Pwnage.) These days I'm reading a book called "Marley & Me" and it's really good, I think it is quite famous in your country since it has been adapted for the big screen (if you haven't read it, you should, believe me, especially if you like pets :D.) Another thing I like to do is to play videogames (most of the time I'm with my NintendoDS on my bag,) and I consider myself as an old-school gamer. However, I'm going to start playing "Portal", but just after finishing all my tests :(.
It was really nice to know from you! I wish I could play an instrument like you! I can only sing (in fact I sang in a sort of chorus in High School) haha.
It was really interesting to read all the posts that you wrote, I didn’t hear of any of you in particular, but I read the things that you share with my classmates. I noticed that all of you are very talented, and are interested in sports or music. Is anyone of you considering those talents for your future careers??
Your city sounds really different to mine, there are many more places where to hang out. Another thing I can tell you about Punta Arenas is that it is also called the end of the world because it’s very close to the Antartic territory, so we feel very identified with a cold climate and the winter, that’s why every year we celebrate during that season, we have a Winter Carnival! It lasts 2 days, people gather around the main square and the main streets of the city in order to see colourful floats and to dance to the rhythm of some music played by band street musicians. There are prizes for the best costumes and floats. Are there any celebrations like this in your city??
Well, I hope to hear from you soon!!! ^^
By the way, I’d like to wish a Happy Birthday to Madeline Marsan!!! (I hope you had had a great time.) :)
I’m glad you replied my post; you seem to be a very cool guy! haha You told me you are about to turn 14, well HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Are you planning to celebrate your birthday?? What are you going to do? Wow, Elmhurst sounds very interesting! Punta Arenas is also considered a small city but it is not as little as yours. Here in town we are about 140,000 inhabitants. As you mentioned, my city is one of the southernmost cities in the world! To be honest, it is very difficult to live in here since we are kind of isolated from the rest of our country, but that’s the reason why we’ve developed sort of “regional proximity”, we even call our region (here in Chile we don’t have states like in your country, we have “regions” and Punta Arenas is the capital of mine) “Independent Republic of Magallanes”. As for myself, I also like reading, especially horror novels. My favorite book is definitely “Dracula”; I love its obscure atmosphere and its fascinating story. I also enjoy horror movies, most of them are kind of cheesy or they don’t even scare me, but they are entertaining. What kind of movies do you like? You also mentioned you are very good at swimming, and the interesting thing about it is that I don’t know even how to swim! I hope I learn some day but I haven’t had the opportunity yet. Regarding other sports, I’m not good at them either, so I quit sports a very long time ago. However, now I’m learning how to play chess and I’m really into it. I’m not very good at it yet, but I hope someday I become an excellent chess player :D Regrettably, I don’t play any instrument, but I will love to learn how to play the guitar. The piano is another instrument that I find exciting, but it seems to be very difficult to play, am I right? I love listening to music; it is something that I do on a daily basis. I like rock, metal music but I do not hate other kinds, I am very tolerant. I used to like Evanescence when I was younger, and “My Immortal” was very popular a few years ago. Here in Punta Arenas most of the teenagers like “reggaeton” music, I’m not sure if you have heard of it but I wouldn’t recommend it to you, hehe. Well, I’m sorry I couldn’t answer the rest of your questions, but I’m running out of time, so if I have another chance to write to you I’ll answer all of them. Meanwhile I would like you to tell me more about your family, your school or whatever you want to tell me I’m all ears, well in this case EYES haha
So you like going to movies? What kind of movies do you like? I like comedies, psychological terror and parodies (like Scary Movie). I also enjoy going out to eat or have a coffee with my school friends. Is fun because we remember our school years.
You play many sports! That's great, you're a healthy girl. As for me.. I play no sport. I don't have much free time.
Let's keep in touch. It was nice talking to you! Take care. Bye.
Hey Keely!! How have you been? I think it's great that you're so excited because of getting in contact with us. I'm also very glad of hearing from you guys!
First of all, let me tell you that all of you seem to do a lot of activities! I mean, you told me you play the cello and you also play basketball and volleyball. It is so wonderful to know that there are people with such different activities, especially related to music =). The other day I heard a school band, most of the kids were about your age (can I call you a kid? xD), and they were playing cello, violin among other instruments. I was fascinated! it was such a wonderful sound. I hope you keep practising and maybe someday you'll send me something to hear you =D
In relation to your question about our weather, I can tell you that is quite odd. We do have the four seasons (right now is autumn) but with all this global warming thing going on, it has been changing a lot. The main characteristic of the city is that is extremely windy (It has reached more than 100 km.) Sometimes it may be very sunny but very cold or windy, and 5 min. then it may became cloudy with rain. The air is usually cold, but it may vary, everything depends on the day, it changes all the time. Many people say you can have the four season in one day (it's true) And this is why there are many occasions when you don't know what to wear! hahaha I hope the weather in your city is getting better! here it's getting colder and colder =S. Most of us (me and my classmates) have lived here since forever, so we're used to this, although it never stops to surprise you. But something that I'm very proud of my city is that we have the most beautiful and amazing sunshine (or sunset) The sky it's so beautiful! full of colours =D
Here in Chile our official language is Spanish. English is taught in schools as a foreign language, but most people doesn't know how to speak in English. In fact they know very little, so thank you for the compliment =),and as a teacher that would be one of my goals, to make students have some interest in the language and help them to learn. I think is great you're learning Spanish! I think is a beautiful language, although from what I've heard it's kind of complicated so if you want some help, here I am!
About my hobbies, I love to read (and yes, just like my classmate Vanessa I'm a huge Harry Potter's fan since I was 11 xD) I also like drawing (people, cartoons, etc.), playing sudokus, and participate in different social activities. I also like going out and hanging out with my friends (in the clubs where I go, most of the music they play is dancehall, is something like Shaggy, I don't know if you had heard of him) In relation to music, I just love music!, I'm more like a rock'n roll kind of girl hahaha, but I also like many different styles, what kind of music do you like?
And about my family, I have three brothers and one sister although I don't live with any of them, two of them live in other cities because of their studies, the other two live with their mother (my father had another family) and we have a very good relationship =)
In relation to my studies, I'm almost done with the career, I'll be a teacher at the age of 23 =D (oh! and I'm no longer 20, now I'm 21 xD)
I'm sorry if I wrote too much hahaha. I hope to hear from you again soon. I would like to know if you knew something about Chile before getting in touch with us or what impression do you have about our country (and please, be honest hahaha)
It was nice to read about you because I could see that we have many things in common... apart of not being good at grammar => Well, I also have one brother and one sister. My brother is 26 (4 years more than me), and my sister is 21. my sister is studying to become a spech therapist and we both live with our parents, but my brother lives with his girlfriend in Pto. Montt, and he is going to be dad soon. =>
My family life is really nice we are all very close, and share almost everything, and most of the sundays are considering to be a familiar day with my family and grandpas.
Anyway we always say that our familly is composed by 12 people, that is my dad, mom, sis, bro, and all our pets... 2 dogs, one cat, three fish, one bird and one rabbit...
And what about you, do you have any pets? which are the most common in your city? and I would like to know about your favourite hobbies... I hope to hear from you soon!!! Have a nice week, bye. =P
Hi you all! well, first of all, sorry for the delay... but my computer got stuck, and you know... all those technical problems :D Mmm...It was very exciting to know you a little more... Elmhurst seems to be a very interesting place... I can imagine that you have a lot of fun there! well, I think that we have a lot of things in common...like hobbies, and things like that. Personally I am not very good at sports, but I love skiing! It is so exciting! Especially here in Punta Arenas..where our skiing center(Andino club) has a beautiful view to the ocean... it is really amazing... Well, I love animals too... I've got a pet, a yorkshire terrier called Nico... He is so pretty and cute, the best dog ever! :D I enjoy very much listening to music, specially singer like Avril Lavigne, and groups like Lifehouse, Coldplay, U2..well, mainly that kind of music. I also love watching TV, my favourite's tv shows are Dr House, Prison Brek, Grey's Anatomy, among others... which are yours??? Well, I hope to hear from you soon guys! Have a nice week, bye bye!
Hey david! It's great to hear from you again, I finally cleaned up my room over the weekend!
I used to take karate too, but i quit after recieving by brown belt. It took alot of time to learn, and I didn't want to keep giving up my weekends to spar in tournaments. It was fun while it lasted, but I like to play other sports too.
I also like to read. In our English class, we just finished what is now my favorite book called, "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas. Its a great book about how an innocent man is imprisoned and escapes and takes revenge on his enemies. I would recomend it.
I love to watch movies too. I really like action and comedy. I occasionally watch horror movies, but they are often too predictable to really be scary. Pizza is my favortie food.
I am currently learning to speak Spanish, but I'm not so fluent yet.
I haven't yet been to any other country, but I've been to 10 states. I hope to one day go to South America, and Europe. They both seem like very interesting places.
What is your favorite type of music? Do you plan to move out of Punta Arenas? What places would you like to visit? Have you ever been to the US? How is school going?
hey karina! nice to hear from you again. I love movies. I am actually supposed to go see one with my friends tonight at the local theater. I like most scary movies and I love ones that make me laugh. What is your favorite movie?
I also like going out to eat with my friends. What types of food do you like to eat?
HEY!!! It's good to hear from you! It really sounds you like you really love your family!! And it seems to me like I can't really say that about some people that I know.... So treasure it as much as possible! My brother is coming home this weekend because I'm having my Confirmation, which a sacrament in the Roman Catholic Church, also my religion. So I'll get to hang out with them for a little bit. Anyway, two years ago, I really wanted to have a hamster. I was asking for a year, then my mom finally hinted at one. So on my birthday, we went to a pet store and I brought home a cute teddybear hamster.(that;s the breed! a teddybear hamster! I find it funny!) So I named the hamster Spritz (like the type of cookie!) Sadly, December 26th, Spritz got out of her cage and we didn't find her till a week later in a bomb shell my dad had gotten that had been fired in Irag from an A-10 plane... whatever that is. So a couple moths after, we went back to the store to try and find another hamster. That's when we found Geo! Geo was a female dwarf hamster left at the store, and since the store could not technically take the hamster back since there was no reciept of purchase, we took her home for free. She was the sweetest hamster ever! She never bit, and was always a calm hamster. That is, except when she ran in her wheel! She almost made the wheel fall off the side of the cage! PLUS, she was in a hamster racing contest. (You put the hamsters in their balls and watch them fly! not really flying though... just fast...) She would've won but, she got confused... she didn't see all the other hamsters that she had before beside her. But in the end, the store had extra prizes so we took a circular racetrack home. Then Geo had lived her life and passed away after 6 months... We didn't know how old she was when she was left at the store. So we buried her in a Von Maur(a fancy store box) next to Spritz. After two deaths, I wasn't really sure to get another hamster but I did. We named HIM skrit. He was a rather mean hamster. You had to squish him so he didn't bite u when u picked him up. After he was lifted up, he didn't bite. He did make a really really nasty mess.
Anyway skrit is not around anymore, he died about a year ago, I haven't had another since but i'm beginning to think about having another. But, most people have dogs in my neighborhood, and most are friendly. Those that have cats, can't really walk them so u don't normally see them much. Anyway, I need to leave... Class is kinda over. I'll post my hobbies from home! hope to hear from you!!!
MY hobbies happen to be spread out quite a lot. I play sports like gymnastics and soccer, in track I do events such as long jump and triple jump. I also really like playing volleyball. Other hobbies that I have are Art, Music, I play the bassoon and the piano, and a little bit of guitar and clarinet. I also sing. Music is a big part of my life... I love just about every type of music except slowed love songs. I'm really into anime and manga. Manga is the Japanese comic srt form. Anime is the animation of manga, and or computer drawn manga. I like reading, watching, and drawing anime (that's the easier way to refer to anime and manga). I love to read, and also chat with people on the computer. (as you can tell) So let me know what you've taken a liking to. What kind of music do you like to listen to? and if you want to answer, what makes you laugh or smile?
Hi Valentina! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!! =D =D =) =) Did you do anything sepcial for your birthday? Right now I am in English/Language Arts Class and were sharing poetry and essays about the book The Count of Monte Cristo. HAve you ever heard of that book? It's really good, we just finished it!!! OH YA and its fine you can call me a kid hehehe =D I like to Draw and paint too. My Dad is a good artist ( nobody famous or anything but he's really good)and he taught me how to draw people, landscapes, and still lifes. I like to draw flowers and still lifes/ landscapes the best. The people I draw always end up with too big noses and eyes that are far apart. =P What are your favorite things to draw?
My favorite type of music is stuff by Ingrid Michealson and Sara Bareillies. I also like John Mayor. If you've never heard of them they are mostly soft rock and mellow songs. But I like older music(such as the carpenters and the Commoders) and i like rock and roll too. Sorry if you've never heard of any of these bands. I dont know if they are all american or not... I've never heard of Shaggy music before... but I'll look it up on you-Tube ( do you have youtube in Punta Cana?).
Ummmm what did i think of Chile before I talked to you was that it was this awesome tropical resort place where you could go into the ocean whenever you wanted. ( I love swimming especially in oceans and lakes <3) Do you ever get to go swimming? Sorry our English class is over now so I have to say good bye! Talk to you soon, Keely =)
Hi Teresa, well you certainly do a great deal of things, your days must be very busy!! there is one thing we have got in common which is music, I play piano in my spare time. Personally I do not like video games, however I have heard of Kingdom Hearts due to my boyfriend who is very fond of videogames and Japanese animation. Well I like to dace, indeed when I was about your age I was national champion of cheerleaders in Dance cathegory on a competition made by the NCA in Santiago, which is the capital city of our country. Well regarding my city, I can say that is really beautiful however I do not like the weather because is too cold!, what abot your city? what kind of atractions have you got there, imagine that you are promoting your city as a tourist place, what would you say?.I'd love to hear from you soon, take care Teresa, good bye!
PD: I'm really sorry about the delay I had to reply your comment but I had connection problems which were beyond my control.
I am vanessa Soto because last time I forgot to mention that there is another vanessa in my class. I did not hear of any of you in particular, but I would like to tell you that I read all the post which are very interesting . I have two brothers and the youngest has te same age as you guys. Let me tell you that he does almost the same things just like you. When I was your age I used to spend my time watching t.v and studying. Now I think that it was so boring! So I am glad to hear that many of you enjoy practicing sports, watching movies and going out with friends. I mean, it's great. I also like playing different sports volleyball and soccer with my friends and my brothers. Actually I am not a master of it but I enjoy this so much.
I'm glad you replied to MY post, this is pretty cool, looking at what's life like for all of you down there. As for my birthday, I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do yet. I'm not one for having big parties, the main thing I look forward to is the presents! My parents always ask me especially what I want, and even though there's no surprise, at least I'll know it'll be something I like! What are your parties like? Do you spend them with your family? Or do you have crazy ones with your friends? :-)
As for my family, I have the usual setup, a mom, a dad, and a younger brother. I'm the oldest out of all my cousins, at least the closest ones most directly related to my family. What's your family like?
Churchville is a pretty nice school, I'm not sure how in relation to size with other schools, but when I think about York High School, it's pretty easy to imagine Churchville as small! What's your university like?
Like a lot of guys, I like action/thriller type movies. You know, movies where things explode. But overall, I'm pretty tolerant with movies. A movie that I really liked was "The Dark Knight". It gave me something to think about. Have you ever seen it? What's your favorite movie?
Haha, I don't blame you for not knowing how to swim. It must be freezing to swim outdoors for you, even in your summer! As for chess, I play sometimes too, though I'm also not that great at it. One reason is because I take FOREVER to make a move. I would be terrible at timed chess! I'm sure that if you keep practicing enough, you'll be great! Do like any other kinds of games?
The piano and the guitar are both difficult instruments, but each in their own way. For example, in my music class at Churchville we spent a couple weeks learning guitar. It was very different than piano because when you play guitar for a while, you get callouses. So when you just start playing, your fingers really start to hurt! I think you should definitely learn to play guitar. It's never too late to start learning an instrument!
Right after I read how you wrote about reggaeton music, I searched it on Youtube. It's...different. Ehh, I don't really love it or hate it. Now I know what you meant when you said that you wouldn't recommend it to me! Do you have any specific bands you like?
Wow, it has been so interesting getting to know you! It's very different talking to someone who grew up in such a different atmosphere!
By the way, do you know the video game series "Super Mario Bros" made by Nintendo? I'm sorry, but that was the first thing that popped into my head when I read your blog! Just wondering, haha! :-)
Well, gotta go, but it has been great talking to you! Hope you respond soon!
Hi Miranda, The whole season’s thing is nice, but you are right it does get boring at times; I myself also really like having the four seasons as they are supposed to be!! How big is Elmhurst? Punta Arenas is kind of small approx. 120,000 people live hear. Being at the end of the word does have its advantages, the landscape is beautiful and you have a lot of outdoor activities that can keep you busy. I’m not a huge sports fan but I used to be in competitive swimming and that’s the only spot I really enjoy! It’s really awesome that you have a lot of activities to keep you busy!! I love all kinds of animals too and i have a pet myself, also a dog its name is Chiqui (it means tiny) even though he’s not; he’s a golden retriever and he’s the best!! I hope to hear from you soon! And take good care of yourself :)
Hi Churchville students! You are all really nice and friendly. I read most of your responses and think you all have so many interesting things to share with us. As I didn't get an specific response to my post I write to you all, as a group, hoping any of you could reply to my letter this time. Well, my name is Lizette, I'm 26 (maybe the oldest in my class =P) and I still live with my parents! Well, this is very common here in Chile but not for you I guess. Anyway, I'm looking forward to move out and be on my own. I study and work, so I'm very busy all the time. I'd really like to have more time to do all those things I enjoy, like going to the movies, reading, playing the piano or going to the gym and exercise. What about you? What do you like to do in your free time? Something I'd like to add about myself is that before I entered this university to become a teacher I studied Acting. I really wanted to work in theatre; I think it's something fascinating. I learnt so many things there, especially about discipline and the importance of controlling your body. If you are interested in acting feel free to ask or tell me about your experience so I can learn from you, too! I'd really like to know more about you, especially the things you enjoy doing. Maybe we have things in common and can learn from each other. Thanks for reading! Hope to hear from you soon!
Hi Lizette! My name is Lainie. It is really cool that you were into acting. Why did you stop? Acting sounds like a lot of fun! I've done a little acting but I'm not that into it. Maybe when I go to high school next year I'll join a play or something like that.
Some other things I like to do are play sports, like volleyball and soccer. I've tried a lot of sports but these two are my favorite. I also like running and tennis. I'm also involved in choir but unfortunately I can't continue in high school because I can't fit it into my scedule.
What kinds of tv shows do you like? My favorite is Grey's Anatomy. Tomorrow is the season finale and I am so excited!
Hey Vanessa! i'm sorry it took me so long to write back. ;-)
Well, in your post you mentioned the Harry Potter books. i personally have not read any of them but my good friend Vicki(she is in my english class, too)loves them. she was sad too when the series ended. i like another new book series called the twilight saga. these books are very popular here and are very good. they are about a girl named Bella who falls in love with a 17-year-old boy named Edward Cullen-but he's a vampire. They have recently made the book into a movie, but as always, the book was still much better. you also asked if i liked to travel, and i really do! i've been to Italy also and it's so amazing how much history there is. did you visit the Colosseum, too? or maybe the spanish steps? i loved it there and i would like to go back. i've also been to canada and Amesterdam. i even visited the place where Anne Frank(i dont know if you know her) was in hiding throughout the Holocaust. it was very interesting and even a little eerie because she died in the concentration camp so it was like going to the house of a dead relative. but it was definitely cool to see how she lived for those few years. as far as music goes, i too can play a little guitar. but i definitely cannot play famous songs like you can. oh, and i do know the band No Doubt. i only know a few chords like A and G but it's fun to play. it's really funny when someone gets their guitar pick stuck inside the guitar. ;-p you mentioned that you play basketball. i also like to play basketball but i'm not very good. i can only make baskets if i'm closer than 8 feet away. but i really love to play badminton. like i said earlier, i really want to be on the team in high school. i also like track. i love running-especially distance. at track meets i always run the 800m race which is about 1/2 of a mile. do you like to run?
well i just have a few more questions for you, then i've got to go. i was curious to know about your experinces in Germany. Like, what are some cool places to visit there? and also i would like to know more about your country, like what are some special things you do there. do you guys have different holidays than we do?
i hope to hear from you soon and i can't wait to read your response. -Lilly
It’s nice to know that someone is interested in acting! Well, answering to your question, I left Acting School because I got sick and I couldn’t do very well at everyday classes. Actually I used to faint during my lessons. So I had to stop and think of something else to do, and that’s why I’m here studying to become a teacher of English... and I’m really happy with my career anyway! As you said acting involves a lot of fun, but also deals with sacrifice and lots of hard work! I studied all day long even on weekends, and we rehearsed for hours and hours... it was exhausting, but it was definitely worth it. It would be really great if you join a play or something related to acting... and remember if you have any question about it, just ask me... maybe I can help :).
When are you going to high school by the way? Are you excited about it?
You’re very fond of sports! That’s cool. I may confess I hated sports when I was in high school, but then, when I entered Acting School, I had to train very hard every day because “the body is the most important tool of actors” :P. Nowadays, I really enjoy exercising. I like martial arts, but I don’t know much about it. I’m looking forward to practise some martial art soon. I really admire you! You’ve tried so many different sports! Keep on doing that, it’s always good to have a healthy lifestyle.
What a shame you can’t continue being involved in choir! It’s a nice activity, too. Maybe you can find the way to continue in a different place anyway.
Well, I don’t have a favourite TV show but I prefer any TV show that makes me laugh :). I haven’t seen Grey’s Anatomy (yet) but I’ve heard of it (a lot). It seems to be a great show... maybe I’ll start watching it! What about the season’s finale? Was it as you expected?
I’d really like to know more about you... What about your family or the people you live with? And... What about your city? What do you like the most about it?
Well, I really hope to hear from you soon!
Lizette
(P.D.: If I’ve made mistakes when writing just let me know... I won’t think you’re rude at all. Actually I’d really appreciate your help... remember I’m learning to use your language!)
Hi Viviana! I'm so sorry that I haven't responded in such a long time. I hope all is well! I listened to the song you suggested, it's mellow and I like it, but i couldn't really understand it! (except the title: If You Don't Return)Although, I guess that's the point of music. You don't have to understand what they're saying to still appreciate it.
Anyway, do you get out of school soon or all you in session all year? Do you have any hobbies? Do you play any sports?
I play tennis and the violin (which you already know). I also enjoy hanging out with my friends in town and going to movies and stuff like that.
So I hope you are a better responder than I am! Once again I'm sooooo sorry about that!
ReplyDeleteHi Renata! I am very glad to know about you, as I can see we have almost the same likes because when I was in highschool I didn't like math too jeje.. however, in my last grade of highschool I got the best marks.. jaj it`s sounds strange isn't it? but I liked language, History, and English of course.
ReplyDeletesomeday, I would like to visit US I know that there's plenty of places to visit jeje.. you could tell me more about you city when yoy have time ok?
In terms of free time, I don't have much free time to spend because of the university and my little baby.. though I very very happy to be a mom , he is so sweet :)..
I hope we continue keeping in touch
take care
see you
bye bye
Hey Lilly!
ReplyDeleteIt was very nice to hear from you!
When I was at school I had a band and we played rock songs, bands like The Cranberries and No Doubt (dunno if you're familiar with those bands) But yeah, I love singing and I still practice every week with my church choir :)
Do you like to sing as well?
Can't wait!
See you!
:)
ReplyDeleteI’m not the kind of sporty guy, I have to admit, and I’ve never in my life been good at any sports.
(Spanish maybe)
Do you read a lot?
Have you ever been to other country?
Hope to hear from you real soon.
Take care.
David
Hi there...
ReplyDeleteI'm new in the neighbourhood, this is my first post and I'd like to know if there's any national park around your city; I'm interested to know about it.
I'll try to be in touch frecuently, though i'm not so diligent... ;p
see ya!!!
ReplyDeleteIn my free time, here in Punta Arenas, I enjoy meeting friends and going out for a cup of coffee or have something to eat in a restaurant.
ReplyDeleteWell, I think that we have a lot of things in common, like the places to visit, the hobbies, and things we like, so you can think that there aren't so many changes in likes and dislikes among your ages and ours.
In Punta Arenas we have a population of about 150 thousand people, so it is quite little if you compare it with Santiago (which has about 6 millions.)
Now, we are just starting Fall, but it seems like Winter! :( Now it is 10pm and we have 3°Celsius (39 F°) but it actually feels like -2 (25°F); In fact, yesterday in the morning was a little frozen outside.
Have you ever seen a penguin? Well, I've lived here my whole life, and just in February I got the chance to see some for real (I could upload some pictures if you want.)
I also like to watch movies, and some internet shows (my favourite is a Canadian show called Pure Pwnage.) These days I'm reading a book called "Marley & Me" and it's really good, I think it is quite famous in your country since it has been adapted for the big screen (if you haven't read it, you should, believe me, especially if you like pets :D.) Another thing I like to do is to play videogames (most of the time I'm with my NintendoDS on my bag,) and I consider myself as an old-school gamer. However, I'm going to start playing "Portal", but just after finishing all my tests :(.
It was really nice to know from you! I wish I could play an instrument like you! I can only sing (in fact I sang in a sort of chorus in High School) haha.
Take care, and best wishes for you!
Bye
Tania

ReplyDeleteHi guys,
ReplyDeleteIt was really interesting to read all the posts that you wrote, I didn’t hear of any of you in particular, but I read the things that you share with my classmates.

ReplyDeleteHi Chum!
ReplyDeleteI’m glad you replied my post; you seem to be a very cool guy! haha
You told me you are about to turn 14, well HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I’m not very good at it yet, but I hope someday I become an excellent chess player :D
Regrettably, I don’t play any instrument, but I will love to learn how to play the guitar.
Good luck and Bye!
Hi, Bridget!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to talk to you.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, let me tell you that all of you seem to do a lot of activities!
Take care!
read you soon!
bye! ^^
Hi Vicky!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to read about you because I could see that we have many things in common... apart of not being good at grammar => Well, I also have one brother and one sister.
Hi you all!
ReplyDeletewell, first of all, sorry for the delay... but my computer got stuck, and you know... all those technical problems :D
Mmm...It was very exciting to know you a little more...
I enjoy very much listening to music, specially singer like Avril Lavigne, and groups like Lifehouse, Coldplay, U2..well, mainly that kind of music.
I also love watching TV, my favourite's tv shows are Dr House, Prison Brek, Grey's Anatomy, among others... which are yours???
Well, I hope to hear from you soon guys!
Have a nice week, bye bye!
Hey david!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to hear from you again, I finally cleaned up my room over the weekend!
Hope to hear from you soon
-Alex
hey karina! nice to hear from you again. I love movies. I am actually supposed to go see one with my friends tonight at the local theater. I like most scary movies and I love ones that make me laugh. What is your favorite movie?
ReplyDeleteI also like going out to eat with my friends. What types of food do you like to eat?
How is school?
Thanks for answering, talk to you soon! Byee!
HEY!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear from you!
I find it funny!)
So I named the hamster Spritz (like the type of cookie!)
Sadly, December 26th, Spritz got out of her cage and we didn't find her till a week later in a bomb shell my dad had gotten that had been fired in Irag from an A-10 plane... whatever that is.
Hi again! It's Vicki again!
ReplyDeleteMY hobbies happen to be spread out quite a lot.
Hope to hear from you farily soon!
~Vicki
Hi Valentina!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!!
=D =D =) =)
Did you do anything sepcial for your birthday?
Right now I am in English/Language Arts Class and were sharing poetry and essays about the book The Count of Monte Cristo. HAve you ever heard of that book? It's really good, we just finished it!!!
OH YA and its fine you can call me a kid hehehe =D
I like to Draw and paint too. My Dad is a good artist ( nobody famous or anything but he's really good)and he taught me how to draw people, landscapes, and still lifes. I like to draw flowers and still lifes/ landscapes the best. The people I draw always end up with too big noses and eyes that are far apart. =P
What are your favorite things to draw?
Talk to you soon,
Keely =)
ReplyDeletePD: I'm really sorry about the delay I had to reply your comment but I had connection problems which were beyond my control.
Hi guys
ReplyDeleteNice to hear news from you again!!
Hope to hear from you very soon
vanessa Soto
bye.
Hey Mario!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you replied to MY post, this is pretty cool, looking at what's life like for all of you down there.
-Chum
Hi Miranda,
ReplyDeleteThe whole season’s thing is nice, but you are right it does get boring at times; I myself also really like having the four seasons as they are supposed to be!!
Betty
(you can call me that)
Bye for now!!
Hi Churchville students!
ReplyDeleteYou are all really nice and friendly.
ReplyDeleteSome other things I like to do are play sports, like volleyball and soccer.
I hope to hear back from you soon.
-Lainie
Hey Vanessa!
ReplyDeletei'm sorry it took me so long to write back.
They have recently made the book into a movie, but as always, the book was still much better.
you also asked if i liked to travel, and i really do! i've been to Italy also and it's so amazing how much history there is. did you visit the Colosseum, too? or maybe the spanish steps? i loved it there and i would like to go back. i've also been to canada and Amesterdam. i even visited the place where Anne Frank(i dont know if you know her) was in hiding throughout the Holocaust. it was very interesting and even a little eerie because she died in the concentration camp so it was like going to the house of a dead relative. but it was definitely cool to see how she lived for those few years.
as far as music goes, i too can play a little guitar. but i definitely cannot play famous songs like you can. oh, and i do know the band No Doubt. i only know a few chords like A and G but it's fun to play. it's really funny when someone gets their guitar pick stuck inside the guitar. ;-p
you mentioned that you play basketball. i also like to play basketball but i'm not very good. i can only make baskets if i'm closer than 8 feet away. but i really love to play badminton. like i said earlier, i really want to be on the team in high school. i also like track. i love running-especially distance. at track meets i always run the 800m race which is about 1/2 of a mile. do you like to run?
well i just have a few more questions for you, then i've got to go. i was curious to know about your experinces in Germany. Like, what are some cool places to visit there? and also i would like to know more about your country, like what are some special things you do there. do you guys have different holidays than we do?
i hope to hear from you soon and i can't wait to read your response.
-Lilly
Hi Lainie!
ReplyDeleteI’m really glad to meet you!

ReplyDeleteHi Viviana!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, do you get out of school soon or all you in session all year? Do you have any hobbies? Do you play any sports?
I play tennis and the violin (which you already know). I also enjoy hanging out with my friends in town and going to movies and stuff like that.
So I hope you are a better responder than I am! Once again I'm sooooo sorry about that!
Bye!
Madeline
